If there’s one thing I’m pleased the internet provided me, it’s the world of fandom. A fandom is a community that is dedicated to a specific universe, such as music icons, TV shows, or movies. I guarantee there is a fanbase for whatever you can think of.
Here’s a list of the top 8 world’s biggest fandoms.
- F.R.I.E.N.D.S
You must be living under a rock if you are unaware of one of the greatest sitcoms ever. Even though the American comedy F.R.I.E.N.D.S. ceased in 2004 after a ten-year run, the fandom and its conversations have continued to grow. “Do Joey and Rachel make a good couple?” is one of these questions. & “Did Ross and Rachel take a vacation?” We were able to see The Reunion because of their demands. I believe that F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The world’s most innocent fandom
- One-direction
The boy band One Direction broke up in 2016, but their vast fan base has never stopped longing for a reunion. The fandom is affectionately known as “The Directioners” and enjoys sharing details about the former band members’ lifestyles.
- Game of Thrones
Memes and ideas surrounding Jon Snow’s death and recovery should have given you a good idea of how powerful this fan community is. The fandom, which is based on George R. R. Martin’s fantasy novel series, grew rapidly following the publication of the HBO adaptation. The community enjoys sharing opinions, such as how the show’s ending was disappointing and what could have been done differently.
- Star Wars
The Star Wars fanbase is one of the most popular, with a large following. It is based on George Lucas’ multimedia dream universe, which was established in 1976. The fandom is concerned with various facets of the series, including movies, television shows, video games, novels, and so on. It is also among the world’s oldest fandoms.
- Marvel Universe
If we’re talking about top fandoms, let’s be honest: Marvel has to be on the list. Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel comics, referred to the fandom as “True Believers,” but it does not officially have a name, unlike Potterhead and ARMY. It began with Marvel comics, but now incorporates hypotheses about MCU films and shows like WandaVision, as well as non-canon shows like Agents of Shield.
- Anime
Anime refers to Japanese animations, including films, videos, and television shows. I grew up watching anime such as Digimon and Dragon Ball Z. While the fan base has always existed, it has grown dramatically during the previous few years. Manga has also been considered part of the fanbase. Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat, two pop icons, have also captured this fan base through their music.
- Harry Potter
You’ve almost certainly met a Harry Potter fan in your life. The fandom is sometimes referred to as “Potterheads” and includes the Fantastic Beasts franchise. The community includes people of all ages and is quite active. They discuss book theories, compose fan fiction, and run their own theme parks.
- ARMY BTS
A K-Pop boy band, presently has the largest fan base worldwide. Their fandom, known as the ARMY, has millions of followers. The fans are incredibly engaged and make significant contributions to BTS’ success. They have contributed to the band’s success in the music industry.
