In Mumbai, there was a bomb threat at the BMC headquarters on June 18, according to ANI. Police searched the building but didn’t find anything suspicious. They are investigating further.
“The threat said the BMC headquarters would be bombed. We searched but found nothing suspicious. Security is increased after the threat. We are still investigating,” officials said.
Earlier that day, over 50 hospitals in Mumbai also received similar bomb threat emails. The sender claimed bombs were in hospital bathrooms and under beds. Hospitals included Jaslok, JJ, KEM, Kohinoor, Raheja, Seven Hills, and St. George. The emails came through a VPN network from a website named Beeble.com. Police and bomb squads searched but found nothing suspicious.
Mumbai’s Hinduja College of Commerce also got a bomb threat email. Police searched but found nothing suspicious. Mumbai’s VP Road Police Station is handling the investigation.
Police have registered a case and are investigating. Over 60 Mumbai establishments, including colleges, received bomb threat emails on June 17 and 18. Police searched but found nothing suspicious. They are looking into who sent the emails from a single email ID. The process to register a case against unknown persons is underway at Azad Maidan police station.
