Delhi Excise Policy Case
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with alleged corruption and money laundering involving the Delhi government’s excise policy.
He was released on bail for a short period during the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, during which he campaigned for AAP and addressed several public gatherings. He returned to prison a few days before the vote counting on June 4.
The Delhi government implemented the excise policy on November 17, 2021, but it was scrapped at the end of September 2022 due to corruption allegations. AAP denies these allegations. In the elections, AAP lost all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
