A large fire erupted late Sunday night in the Mayur Vihar Phase 2 area of Delhi, affecting a multi-storey building. The blaze started at a cafe called Jung and quickly spread to all three floors of the building, damaging a uniform manufacturing shop and the cafe itself, which are near Neelam Mata Temple.
The Delhi Fire Service responded swiftly, deploying 23 fire engines to the scene to contain the fire. They have been working for over 10 hours to extinguish the flames. According to SK Dua, deputy chief fire officer, the fire began at the cafe but soon engulfed the entire building by the time firefighters arrived after receiving the call around 11:40pm.
During the rescue operation, one person was saved from the building’s roof, and unfortunately, one firefighter sustained injuries. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties from the incident. Efforts continue to fully control the fire and prevent further damage to the affected area.
