Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team by the BCCI. The board expressed confidence that Gambhir, known for his tenacity and leadership, will continue the success brought by Rahul Dravid, the previous coach. Along with Gambhir, there will be other changes in the coaching staff, including the preference for Abhishek Nayar as assistant coach and R Vinay Kumar as bowling coach.
Gambhir, 42 years old, was selected to replace Dravid after India’s T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. In a statement, Gambhir expressed his pride and honor in serving his country and is eager to begin his role. His first assignment will be leading India in the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, comprising three T20Is and three ODIs starting July 27.
The BCCI thanked Rahul Dravid for his exceptional tenure and announced their confidence in Gambhir’s ability to guide Team India forward. The decision was endorsed by the Cricket Advisory Committee, emphasizing Gambhir’s experience, dedication, and vision for the game.
