The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is gearing up to launch PSLV-C58 on the first day of 2024. The PSLV will transport India’s X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (ExpoSat) into space. The countdown process commenced at the Satish Dhawan Space Center Shar (Sriharikota) at 8:10 am on Sunday and will continue for 25 hours. At 9:10 am on Monday, the PSLV-C58 carrier will lift off from the first launch pad at Shor into Ningi. Following the launch of ExpoSat into orbit, PS4 will accommodate 10 other payloads. EXPOSAT India is poised to bring about groundbreaking advancements in space-based X-ray astronomy. It aims to explore X-ray sources, adding a new dimension to X-ray astronomy compared to previous missions that mainly focused on imaging, time-domain studies, and spectroscopy. The satellite’s anticipated lifespan is five years. The final stage of the PSLV will transport ten additional instruments into space and has been named PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM).
