Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Sudha Murty for her first speech in the Rajya Sabha. Murty, known for her charity work and writing, talked about important issues like women’s health and promoting tourism within India. She highlighted the need for girls aged nine to 14 to get vaccinated against cervical cancer, stressing that prevention is better than cure.
Murty also mentioned the affordability of this vaccine and suggested that the government could make it even more accessible. PM Modi thanked her for discussing women’s health so comprehensively and mentioned other government initiatives for women, like providing sanitary pads and vaccination programs.
Murty also suggested that 57 Indian tourist sites should be considered for World Heritage status. She emphasized that these sites, including famous landmarks like the Bahubali statue and Lingaraja Temple, deserve more attention.
