SP-Congress alliance: Congress will contest on 17 seats including Varanasi, Akhilesh Yadav will join Nyay YatraAfter the agreement on seats between SP and Congress in UP, leaders of both the parties announced the alliance in a joint press conference and addressed the media.
An alliance has been announced between SP and Congress for the Lok Sabha elections in UP. Congress will contest 17 seats while all our allies will be given space on the remaining 63 seats.
In a joint press conference held in Lucknow, Congress’ UP in-charge Avinash Pandey said that together we will fight to save democracy. Congress is continuously trying to connect the entire country. On this occasion, he specially mentioned Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and said that we express our gratitude to her that it is due to her efforts that this alliance has come to fruition. In response to a question, he said that SP President Akhilesh Yadav will join the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra as per his convenience.
On this occasion, SP leader and national spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that we have come together to save India and remove BJP. Today farmers are worried. The soldiers are worried. Democracy is in danger. In such a situation, we have come together with a resolve to remove BJP. He said that the India alliance is capable of removing BJP from power. BJP has behaved exactly opposite to the promises it made. We are confident that this alliance will be successful in removing the injustice prevalent in the country.
On this occasion, SP state president Naresh Uttam Patel said that it has been decided in the alliance that Congress will contest elections on 17 seats in UP. Whereas, SP candidates will contest elections on 63 seats. Congress has given Khajuraho seat of Madhya Pradesh to SP.

Congress state president Ajay Rai, Congress UP in-charge Avinash Pandey, SP national spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary and SP state president Naresh Uttam Patel were present in the joint press conference.
