New Delhi: Food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy have increased their platform fees to ₹6 per order, up from ₹5. This is a 20% increase.
The new fee is currently being charged in Delhi and Bengaluru. It is different from the delivery fee, GST, restaurant charges, and handling charges.
This higher platform fee will soon be applied in other cities as well. The fee helps food delivery companies control costs and boost revenues.
In April, Zomato raised its platform fee by 25% to ₹5 per order. Zomato first introduced a platform fee of ₹2 in August last year, then increased it to ₹3 to improve its margins and become profitable.
The goal of these fees is to generate ₹1.25-1.5 crore a day.
