Delhi Minister Atishi has called on residents to use water wisely as the city faces severe conditions in recent days. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, she appealed to all Delhiites to use water supply rationally, regardless of whether their area is experiencing water shortages.
Atishi emphasized the importance of not wasting water and warned that fines could be imposed on those using excessive amounts. Her statement comes as Delhi remains gripped by a heatwave, with the weather department forecasting more heatwaves in Delhi NCR on Tuesday and Wednesday.
She specifically urged people to avoid washing their cars with hoses, calling it a wasteful use of water. “Please make sure water is not wasted due to continuously running water motors,” Atishi said. She highlighted that Delhi is experiencing an acute heatwave and accused Haryana of releasing very little water to Delhi since May 1.
Atishi warned that if the public appeal does not prove effective in the next two days, fines may be imposed for excessive water use. She stressed that wasting water is highly irresponsible and announced that the government will implement measures to rationalize the water supply in the national capital.
