Film Plot
The film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar tells the story of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (Randeep Hooda) from the early 1900s to his death, as interpreted by the actor and the film’s makers. Savarkar is a great student at his institution who begins to exhibit reformist tendencies early in his life. He causes waves with his strong views on ‘Abhinav Bharat’, following which he travels to the United Kingdom to master their law, where he also produces a book about India’s revolt of 1857. Savarkar quickly becomes one of the most potent revolutionary forces among Indians around the world, making him the most wanted man by the British.

Randeep Hooda doesn’t just work; he flies. He is mad to play a part like this. Words fail to express how much I admire him. It’s a privilege to witness content created with such dedication. The story of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is highly riveting and keeps you on edge for three hours. The screenplay is solid. The dialogues are powerful; a few may even get you to rise up and clap. The camera work is great, and the tactics used in the film make it highly immersive.
What does not work for Swatantra Veer Savarkar?
There are times when you feel the length of the film, particularly in the early half of the second half when Savarkar is imprisoned at Kaala Pani. A 15 to 20-minute cut might improve the movie. Aside from that, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is the type of impassioned film that is rarely made.
