A video depicting ticketless passengers crowded inside a coach of the premium Vande Bharat Express has sparked widespread attention on social media, prompting a response from Indian Railways. Shared by Archit Nagar and reposted by Indian Tech & Infra, the video quickly garnered over 1 million views, highlighting concerns about overcrowding despite the train’s premium status and strict ticketing policies.
According to Mahesh Gupta, the Public Relations Officer of Northern Eastern Railway, Lucknow division, the incident occurred on June 9 at Lucknow junction. Passengers without tickets had boarded the train before it departed for Dehradun, leading railway officials and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to intervene. The unauthorized passengers were promptly deboarded, ensuring no inconvenience to other travelers and allowing the train to depart punctually.
The Vande Bharat Express is known for its modern amenities and is designed to offer a comfortable travel experience with reserved seating. The incident underscores ongoing challenges with enforcing ticketing regulations on Indian trains, particularly on high-demand routes. Railway Seva acknowledged the video, assuring viewers that appropriate actions were being taken by the concerned authorities in response to the situation.
