Two teenagers tragically drowned in the Ganga river in Raebareli district while trying to take selfies on a boat. The incident involved three friends, Tauheed (17), Fahad (19), and Shaan (18), who visited Payagpur Ganga Ghat for this purpose.
According to circle officer Arun Kumar, while they were taking selfies on the boat, Tauheed and Shaan lost their balance and fell into the river’s strong current. Fahad managed to swim to safety. Rescue efforts were immediately launched, and divers were deployed to search for Tauheed and Shaan.
After several hours, the bodies of Tauheed and Shaan were recovered from the river on Sunday. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with taking risks for selfies, especially near water bodies. Authorities have urged caution and awareness among the public, highlighting the importance of safety measures during such activities.
