An Akasa Air flight traveling from Delhi to Mumbai was diverted to Ahmedabad airport following a security alert onboard, as confirmed by a spokesperson of the airline. The incident occurred on Tuesday, with Flight QP 1719 carrying 186 passengers and six crew members.
The Akasa Air flight, designated QP 1719, safely landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad at 10:13am after receiving the security alert. All passengers and crew members were promptly deplaned, and the airline assured adherence to safety and security protocols on the ground. This incident follows closely after another security concern involving a Vistara flight from Paris to Mumbai. The Vistara flight UK 024 received a bomb threat in the form of a handwritten note found on an airsickness bag. Subsequently, a full emergency was declared at Mumbai airport prior to the flight’s arrival. The flight landed safely at 10:19am on Sunday. Vistara reported that its staff noted the security concern onboard and immediately informed relevant authorities, in accordance with protocol. The airline assured cooperation with security agencies for mandatory checks upon landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
Both incidents underscore the importance of stringent security measures in aviation. Prompt action by airline staff and cooperation with authorities are vital to ensure the safety and security of passengers and crew. While such events can cause disruptions, adherence to established protocols is essential to mitigate risks and maintain the integrity of air travel operations.
