One more terrorist was killed in a gunfight with security forces on Tuesday in the Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, bringing the total toll to 3.
A senior police officer informed a Srinagar-based news agency, Kashmir Scroll, about the latest casualty. The identity of the slain terrorist is still unknown.
The Indian Army confirmed that three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The encounter, which began on Monday night, concluded on Thursday morning after nearly 40 hours.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Indian Army stated, “A Joint Operation, that commenced on the intervening night of 06-07 May in general area Redwani Payeen, Kulgam, has been concluded after a relentless vigil of approximately 40 hours. 03xTerrorists have been eliminated along with recovery of war like stores, inflicting yet another hit on the terror ecosystem.”
On Tuesday, Basit Dar, a prominent commander of TRF, was among the two terrorists killed in the encounter.
The operation was launched on Monday evening based on intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. As the joint team of forces closed in on the suspected location, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
Today, another exchange of fire occurred when a terrorist hiding in the debris fired upon the forces, prompting them to retaliate.
