AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi recently spoke out about Indian students facing attacks in Kyrgyzstan. He reached out to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, asking for help. This concern arose after students from India and Pakistan were warned by their consulates to stay safe indoors due to potential violence from locals.
Owaisi shared on social media that some locals in Kyrgyzstan have been attacking Indian students. He mentioned a student who hadn’t eaten in five days due to the tense situation. Owaisi also shared a video where an Indian student in Kyrgyzstan asked the consulate about evacuation plans. The consulate assured the students they were already briefed, but the student also asked about security for those trying to leave.
Owaisi urged Jaishankar to take action to protect Indian students and arrange their return if things don’t improve. The tension escalated after a fight between foreign students and locals, seen as a breach of hospitality. This led to mob violence targeting Indian and Pakistani students, although no Indian students were reported injured.
Jaishankar mentioned on social media that they’re keeping an eye on Indian students in Bishkek, where the situation seems to be calm for now.
