Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in West Bengal on Friday. He mocked Rahuli’s decision to contest from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency, suggesting it was prompted by fear of losing his Wayanad seat in Kerala. PM Modi challenged Gandhi to face the BJP in Amethi instead of “running away or being afraid.”
He recalled his previous statement about Rahul Gandhi seeking a safe seat after contesting in Wayanad. “I had already predicted that the ‘Shehzada’ would face defeat in Wayanad. I had said that once the polling in Wayanad was over, he would start searching for another seat… He is so afraid of Amethi that he is fleeing towards Rae Bareli,” PM Modi remarked. He urged Gandhi and his party not to be scared and not to run away.
PM Modi also took a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s mother Sonia Gandhi for not contesting from Raebareli and shifting to the Rajya Sabha.
After much speculation, Congress officially announced that Rahul Gandhi will contest Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Raebareli seat and Kishori Lal Sharma will contest the Lok Sabha Elections from the popular Amethi Seat against the Union Minister Smriti Irani.
