According to sources speaking to India Today TV, Amir Sarfaraz, also known as Tamba, a notorious underworld figure in Pakistan, was killed by two unidentified individuals in Lahore on Sunday. The assailants, riding motorcycles, attacked him at his residence in the Islampura area around 1:30 pm. Amir was critically injured in the assault and was quickly taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Born in Lahore in 1979, Amir Sarfaraz had close ties with the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
He was implicated in a case involving an attack on Sarabjit Singh while in jail, but in 2018, a Pakistani court acquitted him due to insufficient evidence.
Known as the “real don of Lahore,” Amir Sarfaraz was associated with the “Truckenwalla gang” and was involved in property deals and drug trafficking.
Who was Sarbjit Singh?
Sarabjit Singh, a native of Punjab, was sentenced to death on charges of spying and for allegedly orchestrating bomb blasts in Pakistan’s Punjab province in 1990, resulting in the deaths of 14 Pakistani citizens. However, his family and Indian authorities denied these allegations, asserting that he accidentally crossed the border while farming. His sister Dalbir Kaur had fought a long battle to secure his release from the neighbouring nation but failed. She died in 2022 in Amritsar.
After spending more than two decades in a Pakistani prison, Sarabjit Singh passed away in May 2013. He was held in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail for 23 years.
