The Indian cricket team is now in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. They have won all three matches so far, including beating Pakistan, while playing in the USA. After one more match in the USA, they will go to the West Indies for the Super 8 and then the knockout stage.
According to a report from Cricbuzz, two players, Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan, might go back home after the USA leg ends on June 15. Both are part of the travelling reserves for the team. The report also said that the other reserves, Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed, will stay with the team in Fort Lauderdale.
Travelling reserves are sent to big events so that if players get hurt, they can replace them quickly. The teams can’t call up new players at the last moment.
Meanwhile, ex-India bowler Sreesanth thinks there will be changes in India’s bowling attack when they move to the Caribbean islands for the ‘Super 8s’ stage. He thinks spinner Yuzvendra Chahal might start playing for India.
India picked four spinners for the T20 World Cup, but fast bowling was better in their first three matches. Captain Rohit Sharma didn’t use spin much against the United States, and he focused more on fast bowling because of the field conditions in New York.
“There might be changes in the spinning players,” Sreesanth said. “Axar Patel’s good performance with bat and ball will make it hard for the team to decide.”
