As it’s getting hotter across India, Zomato asked its customers to avoid ordering food during the afternoon unless it’s really necessary. With the summer heat hitting hard, many people find it tough to go out in the afternoons. Some have even gotten sick because of the weather. Zomato made this request on social media, saying, “Please avoid ordering during peak afternoon unless absolutely necessary.” Here’s what some people had to say:
One person wrote, “Hey, you’re in the food business, and people order when they really need to. If you care about your workers, you should say, ‘We won’t deliver during the hottest hours.'”
Another said, “Just close between 12 and 4. Sometimes it’s okay to think about people over profits. Yeah, we won’t order, but it’s better for everyone.”
“I get where you’re coming from, but some people can’t cook and really rely on ordering food. In the end, it’s up to the customer to be kind to the delivery person,” commented another.
One more added, “I was thinking the same thing today, then decided to just make Maggi instead of ordering.”
“I hope you think about charging more for deliveries during busy times or just stop deliveries altogether. It’s about putting your delivery people first. Or you could make a minimum tip mandatory!” shared someone else.
In many parts of the country, especially in the north and central regions, there’s been a really hot spell for the last few days. On May 29, Mungeshpur in Delhi recorded a scorching temperature of 52.9 degrees Celsius. The heatwave has been making life uncomfortable and disrupting people’s routines.
Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted that temperatures might go down a bit because of rain in Delhi, Rajasthan, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
