A helicopter carrying 7 people, including 6 passengers and a pilot, had to make an emergency landing about 100 meters from the Kedarnath helipad due to a technical issue. Fortunately, everyone on board is safe.
According to the district disaster management officer in Rudraprayag, the helicopter, belonging to Kestrel Aviation Co., was traveling from Sirsi helipad to Shri Kedarnath Dham when the emergency landing occurred around 7:05 a.m.
This year’s Char Dham Yatra began on May 10, with the opening of three of the four shrines: Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath. The doors of Badrinath opened on May 12.
The Char Dham Yatra holds great spiritual importance in Hinduism and usually takes place from April-May to October-November. It is customary to complete the pilgrimage in a clockwise direction, starting from Yamunotri, then Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath.
Due to the high number of pilgrims, the Uttarakhand government has made registration mandatory for all Char Dham Yatra participants. Offline registration in Haridwar and Rishikesh has been discontinued, and now devotees must register online before embarking on the pilgrimage.
