In the IPL 2024, there’s only one playoff spot left, and three teams are in the running. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants are competing. However, Lucknow’s chances are slim due to their net run rate. The match between RCB and CSK is crucial. CSK has a better chance because of their points and net run rate. If the match gets abandoned due to weather, CSK would progress. But even if RCB beats CSK, it’s not certain they’ll advance.
Here’s the playoff scenario:
If RCB bats first and scores 200 runs, they need to beat CSK by at least 18 runs. If they win by 17 runs or less, they’re out due to a lower net run rate.
If RCB chases, they need to reach the target with 11 balls to spare for a target of 201 runs.
The situation isn’t easy for RCB. CSK has a slight edge. CSK can qualify even with a narrow loss.
There’s a slim chance that neither RCB nor CSK qualifies. Lucknow needs a big win against Mumbai Indians to improve their net run rate. If Lucknow wins and improves their net run rate above RCB’s, they’ll have a chance. Then, RCB must narrowly lose to CSK for Lucknow to qualify.
